The Section provides an identification service to the general
public free of charge. It also provides identification and mineralogical
services to commercial users for a fee. The Section has its own
modern X-ray diffraction facilities as well as access to microprobe
and SEM facilities.
The Section provides geological and mineralogical information
to the general public, students and hobby groups. It also provides
more specialised information to a variety of geological groups.
Material from the collections is provided for research purposes
to bonafide researchers. Material may be borrowed for exhibition
and promotional purposes although conditions and fees do apply.
Photographic material may also be borrowed for exhibition and publication;
a fee will be charged.
